Town pays tribute to the founder of the company
Dorweiler, October 2010
In memory and recognition of his lifetime achievement, a street was named after Wilhelm Heinrichs, the founder of Heinrichs & Co.
In 1933 the company was founded in Volmarstein/Ruhr as a manufacturer of turned parts for the lock- and the builders' hardware industry. It was for personal reasons that Wilhelm Heinrichs decided to move to Dorweiler in the 60s. As entrepreneurial as he was it did not take long to found a subsidiary. In 1969 the whole family and with it the company did move to Dorweiler that is the headquarter until today.
When Wilhelm Heinrichs died in 1994, he had established a successful medium-sized business together with his two sons Klaus and Joerg.
Nowadays, Heinrichs is one of the most important employers and training company in the region, with 130 employees. And it continues to be in family hands as the 3rd generation is already in charge.
